Despite the problems with occasional strong wind, at Friday and Saturday, June 27th and 28th, a spectacular international 3×3 basketball tournament was successfully held in Bol on the island of Brač, which was special in many ways and represented the highlight of the current fourth season of the PRO 3×3 Tour 2025. driven by Opel.
First of all, the tournament was organized at a uniquely attractive location, Zlatni rat beach, which is the first time that an official international 3×3 tournament, within the framework of the World Basketball Federation (FIBA), has been held on a special 3×3 court set up on one of the most beautiful and globally popular sea beaches, and in the summer season. Then, the tournament gathered the best 3×3 teams from this part of Europe against each other. This tournament in both men’s categories (senior Elite Men and junior U-19) brought together the most successful teams from the first four PRO 3×3 stops this season, plus several other teams that achieved placement by winning foreign partner tournaments or received an invitation, the so-called wild card, organizer.
In extremely strong competition, a total of 14 excellent 3×3 teams from six European countries – Italy, Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia – in the end, the great team Team BiH Tesla Luks (Bosnia and Herzegovina) celebrated in the senior Elite Men category. In the final match, played on Saturday evening (June 28), they defeated the excellent team Užice Zlatiborac 3×3 from Serbia with a score of 10:5. It is interesting that the winning team was composed of players who are on the short and wide list of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team in 3×3 basketball. It consisted of standard national team members Amar Alibegović and Aleksandar Lazić, and Filip Kaluđerović and Goran Vidović also made a significant contribution. The celebration after the final victory was big because – since the tournament in Bol had the prestigious status of FIBA Quest – in addition to the cash prize of 2,000 euros and FIBA points, the first-place team Team BiH Tesla Luks achieved what was their primary goal: a place at the strong FIBA 3×3 World Tour Masters, which will be held on July 19 and 20, 2025 in Hong Kong! How strong the competition was in this competition is also proven by the fact that the Liman team from Serbia, which is currently the 6th team in the world FIBA rankings, was stopped in the semi-finals and eventually won 3rd place in Bol.
The competitions in the junior U19 category were no less interesting and intense, with eight teams competing. The dominance of teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina in this tournament was ensured by the teams Lukavac 3×3 and Dominus Menprom 3×3, which faced each other in the final match. The better team, with a convincing score of 15:8, was the Lukavac 3×3 team in the end and won the title of winner. The following players performed for them: Rijad Čaušević, Ahmed Čirak, Amer Murgić and Hamza Softić. The third place among the juniors was taken by the Croatian team Tijarica.
A special part of the attractive two-day 3×3 basketball happening was organized on Saturday morning and early afternoon (June 28) on the same court. Then, organized by the Adriatic Basketball Club from Split, the #AdriaticTour, a 3×3 basketball tournament for children and youth, was played. The tournament in Bol was attended by 14 men’s and women’s teams from basketball clubs, primarily from the Split-Dalmatia County, but also from all over Croatia. At the end of the competition, Bruno Šundov, president of the Adriatic Basketball Club and former famous NBA player and Croatian national team member, presented the best teams in three categories (U-13, U-15 and U-17) with prizes provided in partnership with the Adriatic Tour sponsor, Decathlon. The sponsors of this part of the tournament were the Split-Dalmatia County and the Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Board.
In addition, several other interesting events were held during both days of the tournament at Zlatni rat. In the show part of both evenings, the audience was delighted with their skills by members of the Slovenian acrobatic group Dunking Devils, which has performed over 2,000 times in more than 55 countries around the world. Numerous interesting prize games and competitions for spectators were also organized. On the second day, the traditional Kids Day was held in Bol with numerous activities and events intended for children, and the standard 3×3 basketball education was also conducted for players, referees, assistant referees, children and spectators.
“The ending of the 3×3 basketball tournament at Zlatni Rat once again showed how much sport and tourism can contribute to the promotion of Bol as a top destination. We are proud to have hosted top athletes from the entire region in this unique setting, under the pine trees and right by the sea. I would like to thank the organizers from the PRO 3×3 Association, the volunteers and all the visitors who contributed to the great atmosphere with their presence and positive energy. Events like this confirm that Bol is alive and well beyond the classic tourist offer – and we are eagerly awaiting the new sports and cultural events that await us throughout the summer,” said a satisfied Ante Trutanić, director of the Bol Municipality Tourist Board, on behalf of the host.
“This was the most demanding tournament in terms of organization, technology and logistics that has been held in the four seasons of the PRO 3×3 Tour so far. Namely, the attractiveness and uniqueness of this beautiful location presented us, the organizers and our collaborators, with high obstacles. We successfully overcame one of them – the fact that the gravel surface of Zlatni Rat is constantly shifting due to atmospheric and weather changes – by installing a special fixed wooden layer between the gravel and our top-notch 3×3 court, so that the teams had an appropriate playing surface. We all struggled with the second major obstacle, the wind, which was quite strong at times, throughout both nights of the tournament, and with our combined strength we managed to overcome it. I would like to emphasize that in such a situation, the 3×3 teams that adjusted their game and relied more on strength, jumping ability and penetration than on shooting from half-distance and distance came to the fore more in the tournament. The most important thing is that in both categories, the teams that had great quality and who realistically showed the most at this tournament. I would like to thank everyone – partners, associates, hosts, teams and the large audience – because together we all put together a tournament that will be remembered for a long time. I would also like to thank Bruno Šundov and the Adriatic Basketball Club from Split because they organized the first edition of the Adriatic Tour as part of the tournament at Zlatni Rat and once again showed that there are many quality children and young people who are interested in 3×3 basketball. That is its future,” said Tomislav Prpić on behalf of the organizers from the PRO 3×3 Association (Udruga PRO 3×3).
